Can anyone deny the beauty of a vintage steel road bike? Here's a glimpse of two mid-eighties era bikes, an Italian made Olmo and a California Masi Gran Criterium. Both sport Campagnolo Record groups original to the bikes. Yep, there's some grease and grime on 'em, but they're both daily riders and not museum pieces.

I was lucky enough to rescue my friends Olmo from a trip to the tip, 10 hours of cleaning and polishing and £130 on parts and tyres and it was wonderful, later has had full respray with correct decals and triple chromed forks, is like new, fits like a glove and is one of my favourite bikes. As I always say, if you can't own a Ferrari, next best thing is to own an Italian bicycle..built with love!

My bike is an '86 Bianchi Super Legera ? Campy Super Record (now vintage) and pantographed to the max. I went aero brake levers and look pedals, and now back, so I can ride "vintage category" in this years New York Grand Fondo. I put blue brake cables on and with the Celeste it is true art. I will be sanding out the touched up spots soon.... .

Beautiful! I've got the same stem and bars on my Masi. I even like the way it looks with the modern group on it, and the Brooks saddle should look great on there.

Au contraire! My Masi holds it's own with both my Calfee and my Serotta. It's not the same ride as my favorite carbon bike, but it's just as comfortable and has a great "give back" when I push it that the other bikes lack. I prefer it on long rides when compared to my Serotta.

Yeah! I am pretty sure they saw me riding it, and followed me to my house. they are very fortunate I wan;t home when they broke in. My 120 pound Chesapeake Bay Retriever would have done a number on him, or them. Huge teeth, and very protective! I replaced my Masi with a Medici Pro Strada. Very sweet bike. But, I did love that Masi. Next to my Colnago, the best riding bike I ever did ride. My Colnago Track bike was the best riding bike I ever experienced riding, ever. I wish I hadn't sold it!

Holy cow! There's a good reason to store your bikes in your closet!

I LOVED my Masi 3V Volumetrica. Unfortunately for me, somebody else loved it more than I did, and it was stolen from my bedroom. Luckily, they didn't know about the '74 Colnago Super I had stuffed in the closet!

Are those sidewalls yellow or gum?
