Vanmoof Electrified 3 Video Review - Elegant City Style Electric Bike, Minimalist Design

http://electricbikereview.com/vanmoof/electrified-3/ The Vanmoof Electrified 3 features a 250 watt geared hub motor in the front and a Shimano Automatix (auto shifting) geared hub in the rear. It's clean, stylish but still utilitarian with front and rear fenders, a rack and dynamo powered LED lights by Philips. The swept back handlebars and ergonomic grips give you a nice upright riding position and save your wrists. The seat has a bumper built in and the tires add some cushion (Schwalbe Big Apples with reflective sidewall stripe) but the bike still feels stiff and rigid due to the aluminum frame. Best for city riding or on smooth surfaces.

The welding seems a little crappy. I think the execution is not as great as it could be.
What I really admire about this bike though are the design and the really small hub motor (plus the deision to put the batteries into the tube). Does anyone know where I can get a motor like that? I'd really like to try building one like this out of bamboo. -
hey, can you do a review of the Canyon Urban, I know it's not electric, but it seems like a really cool bike

Could you do one of the new electrified s, if you get the chance?

How is it on hills?
-
Thanks for the nice review. I am thinking of purchasing the new Electrified S.
-
to bad for the charging method..
-
how powerful was the motor on the thing? i read somewhere that it is less that 20 Nm of torque... thanks
-
so pointless, just get a light comfortable bike
-
stunningly beautiful
-
Bike is cool, key is HUGE.

This looks awesome. Thanks for the informative review.

if i could i would do the flash-lights pull-able and then you could take the battery out. they didnt thought it all through. plus they could shorten the top tube by making the whole frame a bit wider. as i said - they didnt thought it all through. looks like a prototype. but the gearing is really nice.

Nice electric system and gearing system, but why using this awefully ugly frame??? if thats the new idea for making bike un-attractive for thiefs, i dont agree with it
-
looks like youre in the city.....welcome back.

Sort of a dorky looking bike IMHO. I like the batteries in the top tube idea, but extending that beyond the seat and head tubes does not look right.
-
i'd love to try an automatic (or an electric bike for that matter), maybe in 5-10 years

As ridden by the Dutch police 🚓 🚬

neat and simple. i like it because it takes the attention away from it which means it has less chance of sprouting legs and "walking" away on it's own....

I`d say it has some great potential built in GPS swept back handlebars.. thus I think I need to make a very important point with these electric bicycle designers.
They need to think about this?
It is going to be the baby boomer generation that going to be buying these type of 2,500 dollars up to 5,000+ dollars electric bikes. plus it going to be these old people that buy these electric bicycles as they move into retirement age..( AND LIVE THE SNOW BIRD LIFE STYLE FOR THEIR LAST 20+ YRS OF THEIR LIFE )
Granted they need to design electric bicycle for the younger generations BUT it`s going to be us old people that will be the ones whom fuel this electric bicycle movement and these designers need to think about the physical body shape of us older people ( were the ones whom set the land speed record over the last 50 yr )
BUT We are paying the price! We don`t have the gymnastic flexibility in our muscles any longer as the younger children grand children folks do!
Ya got to remember? We the old people have been very busy working typing in computer codes sitting in chairs creating internet programs thus GPS google earth systems that makes this type of technology possible GPS tracking technolgy etc etc nano computer size electric devices for bicycle for on board computer technologies thus designing lightweight alloy metals.( alchemy )
Were not dead yet? and we are the generation whom built all this! ( can`t they respect the physical shapes of their elders whom have worked their life away so that their kids and grand kids could inherit a better world? ) should they think about and try building something comfortable for us old folk?
These 24 inch 3 wheel trikes 250 volt 450 volt etc are a insult to us old folks
( your going to lucky if ya get to the local grocery store with out it running out of electrical juice..
Do these designers do they really want old people to run out of juice and be stuck sitting on the side of the road no power with their groceries? I say that would be proof of no respect for their elders. Because I know for a fact the technology does exist you.
thus We need bigger seats and more electrical power 30+ to 40+ miles with out having to pedal. :-)
