THE FUTURE OF CITIES

This is a conversation starter first, a video second. I’d love to hear your thoughts on cities, the future, and this project. I shared some words, a reading list and featured interviewees here: medium.com/@oscarboyson/the-future-of-cities-ba4e26c807fe#.lrpyoofi4 * Note that the first shot in the movie a "Garbage Truck in Taipei" is actually in Changhua City, also in Taiwan. Thank you Taiwanese friends for pointing this out! Thank you to everybody who contributed! Trust me when I say that even if I didn’t get your footage in the cut, we can feel it in the finished product. I want to keep telling urban stories and building on these ideas - hope you do too. I can't even tell if there's any substance here because the editing is so irritating. Stringing soundbites together over hip music might be entertaining but it doesn't actually inform. This feels like an advert selling the illusion of understanding.

Loved it. I always wonder though, how does a person daily commute by bicycle in the rain? Heavy Rain, every day for a week.

A very Impressive documentary

Maybe you should check out what's happening in israel. They are leaders in technology and they have brilliant ways to save water

Great work Oscar. As a architecture student (and beginner filmmaker) this is inspiring and motivating. Suprising this doesn't have 1 million views yet.

this is so inspiring and well put together, and a showcase of how great the internet can be
-
Oscar's voice is so luscious

Could someone tell me the name of the music played by the garbage truck in Taiwan in the very first shot? I know it's very famous and I've heard it a lot, but I just can't seem to remember the name.

Don't forget to add Tesla giga factories and autonomous electric cars to the cities of the future. And maybe even hyper loops.

Usualy a city was meant differently decades back , nowadays a city needs to be a zoo with everything being connected at will , but all they sell nowadays are 4 or 6 times more expensive than back then, yet there are people that can't finish their months . We also have that new trend that people suddenly doesn't like noises or sounds anymore , well a dead city i would hate . What they're doing with cities lately is ruining everything alot shops being bankrupt or close because there's no more cars with people going in a city for shopping ( no everyone is young and healthed ) the best restaurants are always outside cities with parking abilities , restaurants inside a city are usualy for tourists means the lowest quality and bad served. Cities will become dead like those old cities we see in old Westerns thats more the future . With all being connected why does people needs to go outside ? you can buy everything with your smartphone and computer ( food, clothes, drinks, tv's , consoles, whatsoever ...) so alot people would stay inside their homes 24/24 . Even visiting a church an old castle or whatever you can easily do at home preventing you to spend money. Making cities looking like a carebear land is creepy , thanks to the ecologists and feminists for that silly world they're offering us , guess people would be bored very fast of such life that they will return back to how it was decades ago , lol
