8.5million is correct for a black and white image. However because it is a colour image each pixel is made up of RGB so it takes 3 X the amount of space.

I have a question. I use render program and render image 4000x2000px (or 100cm x 50 cm) and then i will use the image for printing smaller size for example 50cmx25cm. In this case, when I'm not making bigger but smaller image, would be lower the quality of the image, or it will stay the same? Thanks

on 2:32 you say that if you multiply 3.579 x 2.396 you will get 24.5 million, which is not true. What you get is about 8.5 millon. So, I did some testing. I tried to put 1x1 pixel and the pixel dimensions became "2 bytes". So I guess 24.5M means megabytes? Maybe the megabytes of the image before gets compressed as jpeg? correct me if I am wrong plz
