It’s Canyon's first road disc bike for consumers, so the Endurace CF SLX is kind of a big deal. We’ve just got back from a quick test of the new bike on the German firm’s home roads of Koblenz, and have reached some early thoughts on how it rides.

More expensive, heavier and less aero. Manufacturers must think we are total mugs...next the UCI will relax the rules a little to usher in the next fad. What makes cycling so great being eroded.

I still don't understand why disc brakes are so needed on road bikes. I ride a bicycle all my life and I hardly have to use the brakes anywhere I go. On a downhill circuit I do get why disc brakes have added value. But why would anybody get racy in the traffic especially on smaller downhill roads with regular traffic and use the brakes at the very last moment. You want to ride a safe line right?

For an endurance bike the headtube and stem seamed to low. I dont like the shape of the stem, too square it looks ugly.

The reason they upped the price of these models is plain to see. This is clearly the way the industry is going. Anybody who argues this point is clearly a zealot. They want to shift old tech. The die hard traditionalists who wont budge on disc technology will be buying their older soon to phased out forever version of this bike.

What I don't get though is why Canyon have not put compact cranks of the endurance models ?? I understand for the race models semi-compacts give a happy medium but for an endurance model it doesn't seem to make any sense.
